One week. One freaking week and they showed no signs of letting chase at all. I crouched, my fox ears pricked for noise. Nothing. I scented the air. Pungent with a human scent.
The hair on the back of my neck prickled as I sensed a large presence somewhere behind me. I was preparing to bolt when suddenly I felt a meaty hand close around my tail violently. I yelped and pulled free. Losing a handful of fur in the process. I scaled the closest thing available, a tree. The man beneath me screamed and ranted for his companions. All I could do was clutch the brach and shake. That was much too close.

Rain poured from the bitter sky, washing the cobblestone streets. You could see the panic on their faces, the crying children. Inches of rain water flooded the streets. The women darted to and from the buildings, going into each store to listen to the gossip as the men pulled their hoods close to theirs faces and grumbled to themselves. But wait, isn't there supposed to be a plot coming into place here? At least a main character? Or are we just going to sit here all day reading about the rain?
Well, I like the rain. Who cares about little colds? I thought that since Kenton was by a lake, these people should be used to a little water. Where I come from, its cold nearly all the time. These people, on the other hand, seem to have as much sense as-
As-
Oh, forget it. My point is: they don't have much sense. There.
"There's the devil!"
Oh good. I was beginning to get a little worried. I watched with amusement as several guards started to scramble up after me. I crossed my legs and peered down over the roof. Six guards.
"Where were you?" I asked. "Don't tell me you were scared of a little rain!"
The first guard scrambled up to the roof. Time to do what I do best: cause trouble.

OOC: YAY! I luff u!! Anyone else want to join??
IC: I shivered and shook myself. Trying to bainsh the rain. The slave catchers had gone into the town for the night to escape the rain.,, which I think was pretty boneheaded. Still It WOULD probably be warmer and dry in the town. I dropped to the soaked ground, scanned, and with targeted precision- raced silently though the tree and reached the short gate of Kenton's town.. There were no guards- that was odd.. but then I heard one-sided jeers and glanced up to see a girl someways down the wal perimeter taunting furious guards. Such luck! I slipped through the overly large bars and dashed into the town. I though tI had escaped unnoticed- but I was wrong.

ooc: yaw 4 rpgs!
ic:I skimmed along the wall, mocking the guards as they went. Their faces were red with a mix of fury and exhaustion. I ran on the edge of the wall and jumped unto the nearest guards.
Below, I saw the shadow move and the splashing of water. I hesitated. Perhaps more unwanted company? Glancing over my shoulder, I leapt from the wall. Water splashed past my ankles. It made me glad that I had my leather boots on.
This chase no longer seemed amusing. The guards were too slow and it was getting tiring. I've been in Kenton too long....
I shuffled through the flooded streets, dodging random floating objects. I crawled into an open crate stacked on top of other crates. It would have to do for now.
"Where she a go?" called a voice. Some cursed.
"Gillan," came a familiar voice. "I think its time to alert the ACU."
"You think she's an anima?" asked the husky voiced Gillan.
"There's no doubt. We've been chasing her for months. This has to stop."
I slid into my anima form and sighed. Somehow, I found myself not caring. A raindrop splattered on my nose. More rain. I curled into a tight ball, thinking dreary thoughts. My playfulness seemed to have drowned in the rain.
Once again, I was left alone in the world.

IC: It was totally obvious to any passer-by that I knew not of the small-ish town. Heck, i had only ever been in a couple of these towns in my entire life. And only for emergencies at that. I wandered around looking for a dry spot- away from the more congested areas of human proceedings.. I had never want too much to do with them.
I shivered and clutched my arms around my torso- trying desperately to conserve heat. I meandered until I found a little spot dug out of a building porch. I crouched and looked underneath it- there was a shadowy figure- a girl. It appeared she slept fitfully.
I wedged my way in and tapped her shoulder, "Hey- can I sleep here too? There's enough room." She blinked at me and I curled up without and answer. Human or not I was sleeping here.

I was too tired and sad to care about much anymore. To my reluctance, I allowed the girl inside. I moved far away as possible and curled back up. I had slipped out of my anima form as soon as I was alerted of her coming. From her body language and reaction, I knew that she did not know who I was. That was good. Well, not like it mattered. I was to stay here for a few more day before hitting the road.
I woke up, drenched in water. Ack! We were being flooded! I gave the other girl a quick kick, then I crawled outside and on the top of my little dugout. The water level on the ground had increased greatly. The stranger crawled out after me. I glanced to either side, but no one was about. Shocked from the sudden flooding, I took higher ground. I never realized how low to the ground I was....
What a wake-up call. The girl followed me on the roof of a house. I didn't pay any attention to her, I had other concerns at the moment.

I hate the underground to begin with... But drowning underground?? Not only is that embarrassing-- it's just plain unnatural and frightening. I was thankful that the girl woke me, but not appreciative of being kicked.
I followed her and she leapt up onto a roof- I blinked in surprise- I had never seen a human clear that sort of distance. I shrugged it off and followed. "Now what?" I asked

I shook myself out, raindrops flying every which way. "First, find some shelter." I went into a steady jog, carefully balancing myself. I jumped to the next roof and jumped of the side of the building, landing on a stack of crates. I splashed back into the icy water and pushed my way through the water. To my annoyance, the girl followed.
Frowning, I squared my shoulders and continued forward. We went past town and into the surrounding forest. After I was a good distance away from Kenton, I choose a comfortable looking tree and climbed.
"You're joking?" asked the girl hesitantly. I suppressed a growl.
"No one is making you stay." The girl shrugged and climbed up into a neighboring tree. I hide my disappointment and climbed as high as possible, making sure I was well hidden. I wasn't used to being with someone. It felt weird having someone around, following me. I gritted my teeth. It wasn't always like this. I couldn't trust her, though. Sometimes, those who you think are friends are often your enemies. She might be part of ACU, or Anima Control Unit. Its one of their techniques, someone befriends the wanted anima, preferably another anima who is enslaved to ACU, then they close in on the target when its most vulnerable. I couldn't trust her, even if she was an anima. There was too big of a risk.

I have never been able to understand most human mannerisms that well... But seeing as I have lived with my 'parents' once before I knew full well that the girl neither liked me nor wanted me to be within four feet of her. I could take a blaring hint-- I was just hoping for a place to dry off and sleep. Not to be a bother.
I shrugged and dropped to the ground I didn't even want to be in the trees. I never cared very much for heights anyway, and besides- tomorrow the slave catchers would be right on my tail. The girl spared me a glance form the highest point she could reach in her tree. I turned my back to her, faced north, and began a steady trudge trough the now steady drizzle to find higher ground and saftey

I watched as the girl started to walk off. Not really caring, I curled up tighter and began to snooze. When I finally awoke, the girl was gone and it had stopped raining. I must have slept the entire day! Hopping to one branch, then another, I reached the forest floor with ease. Satisfied I finally lost the human girl, I went back into town. Today I felt to lazy to hunt, and I wasn't in the mood for raw meat. I skirted around the edge of town and slithered between buildings.
The water was lower, about an inch now. People in rubber boots walked around, it looked like they gathered everything. I slipped into the nearest store. Inside were piles of food, being protected from the rain. I grabbed an apple and ran outside. No one even noticed or cared. Grinning, I ate the apple in several bites.
Since I had just rested, I felt alive and energetic. Today, I would leave Kenton.

As the weak sunrise poked out over the horizon I crawled out from underneath an overhang between two large boulders among other large rocks. It was pleasant- the small space kept me dry and trapped a little bit of heat, and there were sprigs of moss and grasses growing there so it was soft as well. Yawning I stretched briefly, then with one calculated jump landed and scaled one of the largest boulders nearby. I probably would not have been able to do that if I was a human.. I choose a spot and sat, staring at the steadily ascending sun. Watching sunrises is so satisfying. Sunsets can be nice to- but I'd rather think of the sun as re-birthing rather than dying. The air smelled nice- it was clear, it was wild, and most gratifying of all, it was untainted. I ran a palm over the rough and knobby contours of the boulder- humming a little ditty that I had learned many years ago.
Perhaps today would be a good day.. maybe I would finally loose the hunters. But I had to move fast- I needed to get out of Kenton. I cautiously climbed down the rock and dropped to the ground (the thing was three times my size!). I checked a small bag on my belt and frowned-- my food supply was running low, I needed to stock up before I left. "that might be dangerous" I muttered darkly.

Kenton was a small black dot, a shimmering lake. I sprinted across the open sea of grass, leaving the forest behind. Normally I didn't like to do so vulnerable, but today it felt amazing. Today, I let go of all my worries, fear of being noticed.
I just ran.
I continued to run until the sun set. Then, I found a soft spot of grass and curled up in it. I had put a good distance between myself and Kenton, no one would be out here. I smiled, watching the waving grass.
I wasn't tired, I had rested several hours ago. Truth was-I just wanted to relax for a few moments. It felt amazing.

My stomach snarled at me. I stared a the guards and gates of Kenton- no luck. Looks like i was going hunting.
I turned around and trudged back into the forest. I wandered for a bit before finding a small berry bush. I took a few and stuffed my rations pack full- hunting wasn't an option right now. Then with a little bit of speed I began at a jog, weaving in and out of the trees. Feeling alive, that is- until I reached the plain. Not good. I couldn't go across it during the day... NAPTIME! I crawled into a congregation of long grasses and undergrowth hidden beneath a fallen tree supported be a strong one. Who knows.. maybe rest would be good for me.
Turns out it definitely is. when I next woke up the first stars began to poke out over the horizon and i stumbled to my feet. I stretched and then. Began my trek at a steady run. I alternated between run, jog, and walk, yet still made me journey in half the time it would've taken me during the day. I suppose it makes sense though, my +anima type IS more active during the nighttime. After about 4 and a half hours of trekking I decided to push into a run. I leaned forward ever so slightly and began to pump my arms, slipping gradually into my anima form. and then-- I tripped. "OOF!"I fell on my face, scraping my palms.
"Nghhh..oww.." Someone moaned.
My ears pricked- did I just trip over a.. person? In the middle of the field?

I was sleeping soundly until I got hit-hard. As soon as whatever hit me, I jumped to my feet and into a crouch. I snarled, bracing myself.
It was that girl.
I straightened, keeping my eyes on her. She stared at me from the ground, taken off guard. What was a human doing traveling alone? Usually they travel in little packs, to avoid being attacked. Then, I saw her fox ears and tail. I flexed my hands and did a half-circle around her. She stood up, watching me warily. I stopped and narrowed my eyes.
The girl seemed to have gathered herself. "What are you going to do, human?" Her voice mocked me. I wanted to laugh. Like I was anything but human. The humans even know I'm not like them.
I relaxed. "Look where you're going." I wasn't going to apologize to her, she was the one that tripped over me. Even if it was an accident.
Why I didn't tell her of my true identity-I have no clue.

For one of the first times in my life, i felt anger. I folded my arms and laid my ears back.. wait my ears.. GAHHH! I had forgotten to hide my anima!! I was suddenly very skittish. I didn't hide my anima- perhaps it was too dark for her tell. "Ah, um, err... Ah-- it was nice to see you.." was all i could manage. Then I turned and booked it. Way to be subtle..
