Name of Anime: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni
Type: Seinen
Genre: Mystery, horror, scifi/fantasy, romance, comedy
Warnings: Heavy violence
Opening:
Why you enjoy it: It's an amazing show. It somehow manages to combine a multitude of genres into one. It's a mystery story that not only keeps you guessing until the very end, but even as you build hypothesis the plot suddenly twists and you have to start at the very beginning. You come to love these characters. I must warn you, this anime is not for the feint of heart. It is quite violent, contains graphic blood and gore as an artistic choice to empathize suffering. You've been warned, but I still highly recommend it!

Name of Anime: Death Note Type: shonen Genre:...can't put my finger on it Warnings: hm... Opening: Why you enjoy it: It gives you the inlook on the criminal's side of the story. Their motavies, their thoughts, ect. It's rather action-y, but it's mostly like a game of chess. Two great thinkers trying to catch on another.

Name of Anime: Samurai Champloo
Type: Seinen
Genre: Fighting, martial arts, historic, romance
Warnings: Violence, adult themes
Opening:
Why you enjoy it: It's a show about a journey. A wonderful cast of characters experience growth, become closer to each other, and learn more about their companions. It's a very intriguing show that gives you an interesting insight on an important Japanese period. The fighting is realistic "samurai" and, unlike the shows Bleach and Naruto, don't over-embellish the action sequences and provide an accurate and incredible view of martial arts. The animation is easily some of the best I've ever seen. If I have a complaint, it's that the show is a little short in number of episodes.

Name Of Anime: Phantom: Requiem For The Phantom
Type: Seinen
Genre: Drama, Psychological, Thriller, Romance, Tragedy
Warnings: Heavy Violence (not as much as say, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni or Elfen Lied, though), Some Adult Content, Some Language
Opening:
Why You Enjoy It: An emotional, powerful drama with some action mixed in. It's definitely a tear-jerker, but it is very well done (though the last, like, 15 seconds of the last episode was rather o.0 - you'll see what I mean if you watch it, but other than that it was great all the way through). Recommended for anyone who likes dark, psychological dramas.
