Mouse happily led the way on the well-beaten road. All around them, the endless plains stretched on, covered in snow. She shivered, pulling her jacket tighter around herself, but smiled nonetheless. Though, she did complain, however. "It's so cold!" Mouse shivered slightly. "How long till we get to Maggie Vil?"
Her older brother shook his head slightly, exasperated. "Mouse. We've been walking for five minutes. Five. We probably won't get there until tomorrow, or the day after." At his sister's put out look, the corners of his mouth upturned slightly. "Be patient, Mouse."
She sighed. "Be patient! Be patient! I CAN'T be patient! Everyone in the gang knows that! I'll bet even Ryker's figured it out by now." Still walking, Mouse looked back at Ryker. "Right, Ryker?" She had gone back to using his old name, as she didn't like calling him Moon.

Ryker flashed a grin. "Impatient would be an understatement for you."
He shook himself, allowing the fresh snow thawt had settled on him for the past couple of hours to fly off intot he wind. The snow didn't bother him, he loved it. He shifted into his anima form, sighing in relief. His long tail brushed the snowback and forth.
Not too far off, Stormcrest watched from a distance.
"He seems so happy," she observed. She felt like a coward for running off, but it was too much for her. Everything about this set-up smelled like a trap. No one, who knew what Ryker was, stayed within a foot of him. The way these two just accepted him...
"Trap," she hissed. She should know that. After all, she used to be one of those anima that worked undercover. Find an anima, pretend to be their friend, then lead them off to a camp full of hunters. It always worked. Now that she had left all behind, she wasn't even sure if she could trust Ryker.
"I need to find out who these people are," she breathed. Picking up her pace, she ran towards the threesome. "Hey! Sorry I'm late!" She jogged up to the three.
Ryker furrowed his brow. "How did you find us so fast?"
"I'm a hunter," she said, rolling er eyes.

Mouse and Shark stopped, surprised. She was coming? Why hadn't either of them been told? "Wait, you're coming?" Mouse blurted out, confused. Her forehead furrowed up. "First, you try to kill Ryker, then, you two make up, and now you're coming with us? I am so confused..."
Shark hit his younger sister on the head, before looking at Stormcrest, eyes narrowed slightly. "More tact, Mouse." His gaze fell off of the girl, and onto Ryker. "I do agree with her, however. Why were we not told? I don't mind, however..." His gaze shifted back to Stormcrest. "We're not particularly fond of surprises."

Stormcrest clenched her fists, but released them quickly. "I never told Ryker. At first I was just going to say goobye, but I thought...."
Ryker stopped walking. "I thought you were still working for-"
"No. I decided I'm not going back to my old master," Stormcrest said quickly.
"What about the hunters?" he growled. "You take too long, and they'll be hunting you."
"That makes two of us then," snapped Stormcrest. Ryker huffed, knowing that was true. "Sorry Mouse and Shark. I didn't know she was coming."
Stormcrest shifted from foot to foot, feeling awkward. Ryker was taking their side now. Shouldn't he be demanding that she comes with? She was HIS family, not the other way around. Sure they fought for awhile, but....
but....
She looked at Ryker, feeling betrayed.

Shark watched the exchange with interest. "If you didn't know, there is nothing to be sorry for." His eyes flitted from Stormcrest, to Ryker, and back again.
Mouse, clearly excited, danced from foot to foot, grinning at Stormcrest. "So, does that mean you're gonna join the gang?" she asked the younger girl, hoping it was true. "Cause I'm POSITIVE that Snake'll like having TWO new +Anima, and not just one. He'll definitely like you both!" Mouse prattled on happily.
Shark hit his sister on the head, as he did often. "Mouse. Think before you talk, please."

Stormcrest wanted to melt into the snow. "Um, Shark is right. Two anima is too much, I'll just hang until we getto Maggie Vil." She brushed the snow off her arm, trying to act casual. "I have business there anyway."
"Will you go back to our old master, then?"
Stormcrest thought about this for a moment or two. "Maybe. I'd rather not, but if I don't it might cause trouble."
"Probably," agreed Ryker relucantly. He felt bad for going against her, but he couldn't endanger Mouse or Shark even more. He started walking at a faster pace, going ahead of Mouse and Shark, leaving Stormcrest standing alone.

Shark raised an eyebrow. "Business?" Before the younger girl could answer, he shook his head. "And it's none of ours, right, Mouse?" He addressed his younger sister, who was about to say something. She smiled sheepishly. "Although..." He turned his attention back to Stormcrest. "I am curious about your motives for coming with us, though I will not ask."
Mouse, having had to bite her tongue to hold in her words, let them all out. "Why wouldn't you join? It'd be fun to have you. I know Shark said not to, but what IS your business in Maggie Vil? Have you ever been there before? I have, it's really fun. Oh, and what ARE your motives for coming with us? Cause I'm still-" The girl was cut off as Shark rapped her on the head yet again.
"Mouse. THINK before talking."

Stormcrest flicked her arm, seeing if it was numb yet. "Motives for coming with you? I guess since we're heading to the same place, it would be easier to tag along. I was going to go there anyway after I, well, finished Ryker. My business there has nothing to do with my old master, I'll tell you that now."
She moved a little to the left. Shark was suspicious of her. She avoided looking at him. They, being Shark and Mouse, and maybe even Ryker now, could be one of THEM. The Tri, three major gangs that occupied Asteria. There was one in Sailand, though, that fought against the King for enslaving anima. If they weren't working for hunters, then they had a good chance of being in one of the two major gangs in Asteria. One gang allowed anima into their gang welcomingly, but then forced them to stay. They treated them like slaves, fellow anima. They had created a monarchy. The other gang was much different, though more secret. WHo knows what they're motives are? If they, Mouse and Shark, were apart of this monarchy gang...leading Ryker to believe lies when in reality they saw him as their slave or bodyguard....
She swallowed her fears.

Mouse shrugged, disappointed. "Aww... I wanna know!" She pouted slightly, like a little child, before Shark gave her a 'cut it out' look. At that, she sighed. "I know, I know, curiosity killed the cat." She frowned slightly. "Wait, wouldn't that be a good thing? I mean, the cat hunts the mouse..." Shrugging, she turned to follow where Ryker had gone. "Oh, well."
Shark glanced at Stormcrest, suspicions not averted, but followed aftr Mouse, in deep silence.
Mouse turned around, walking backwards as she began to speak to Stormcrest. "Hey, Stormcrest, why's your name like that? I don't think that was the name you were born with... My name's only Mouse cause I didn't wanna member my old one!" She chattered happily, sounding like the child she acted like.

Stormcrest blinked, once again caught off guard. "Well, it used to be Chiera. But then when I escaped with Ryker, I changed my name. I guess I wanted to start out new, start a new life. Of course, we all know how that turned out. My old master didn't call us by names, but by numbers. I was number 4321. Ryker was 4058, I think. In fact, Ryker changed his name too. Ryker Sundown."

Mouse blinked, surprised. And she thought her owner had been bad. "Dang, he's mean! I thought my owner was bad..." She hesitated. "Well, he still was kind of bad. But he's dead now, so it doesn't really matter." Mouse glanced back (up) at Shark, grinning. "You got it lucky! No owner!" Shark gave her a look. "I know, I know. I was just kidding. Geez."
The two didn't really have to talk to communicate, not anymore. Mouse just liked talking, and Shark felt obliged to speak back. "My name..." Mouse thought back. "Hmm... I can't remember my old name. It's been... 6 years since I went by that name, so I wouldn't remember." She glanced at her older brother, before returning her gaze to Stormcrest. "Shark knows, but I'm not gonna bug him. I'll hafta ask Shark when he'll let me, or Snake when we get there." The older girl was still walking backwards.

Ryker slowed down, realizing her had been walking much faster than everyone else. Stormcrest trotted a little faster, hanging just behind Mouse and Shark.
"We should be getting closer to Maggie Vil," said Stormcrest.
"Hey, Chiera," Ryker said. "Weren't you born in Maggie Vil?"
Stormcrest glared at Ryker for using her old name. "Why I'm surprised you remembered, Sundown."

Mouse giggled at the exchange, while Shark, his face devoid of all emotion, though his eyes still radiated hostility, was satisfied, his suspicions put off for now. He mentally stored the fact away that Stormcrest, now Chiera, had been born in Maggie Vil. He'd examine that detail later.
Excited, Mouse, still walking backwards, turned her attention back from Ryker to Stormcrest. "How far away are we? An hour? Less?" Please let it be less than an hour, she pleaded mentally, not wanting to walk for overly long.

"Hey, Chiera-"
Stormcrest stalked up to Ryker and blocked his path, shifting into her anima. Ryker's shining face fell. She grinned. "What was that, sweetie?" She asked gently. THe bangs framing her face had changed color, much like an African Wild Dog's. Her round mottled colored ears were much easier to see than Ryker's spotted ones, along with her tail. When she smiled, her sharp canine teeth showed.
"Nothing," laughed Ryker nervously. "Luckily I'm immune to you by now, or else I would have torn you to shreds.
"You wish."

Mouse frowned, slightly upset. Stepping in between the two, she glared at them both. "No fighting! Or I'll make Shark bite you! And you've both seen his teeth!" She sighed, folding her arms. "People who are clearly as close as you two should never fight." Mouse told them, sounding serious, and looking down on both of them, though she wasn't much taller. "Honestly! Me and Shark never fight! And neither should you two!"
With that, she stepped out from in between them, walking over to Shark. They exchanged glances, talking without speaking. It was what they did when they wanted no one else to hear. Closer than close fit them perfectly.
