Luiva shivered and buried his face in the dirt, trying to sink into it. His tears soaked into the soil, turning it to mud and dirtying his face. How did this happen?
His thin arm shook as it reached out and planted itself into the earth. He feebly pushed himself to standing and took a few steps forward. His uniform kept him hidden in the black of the night, but it would not be enough. He stumbled forward a little.
Suddenly there were angry shouts followed by a long and drawn out scream. Luiva hit the ground again fresh sobs penetrated to dirt. That was the last one. Everyone who had helped him escape were now either dead or would be taken back to be executed. Only he was left.
He began to crawl, to drag himself along. Before cautiously getting on his feet and forcing his exhausted and aching body into a jog.
Within 15 minutes he came across what looked like a mountain but was, instead a city. He quickly got inside the city walls and crawled into the nearest crack to hide himself.
Shouts and searchlight entered the city 2 minutes afterward.
Luiva chocked back a sob and buried his face in his knees, feeling dead already. His forehead felt hot and he stifled a sneeze. This was the end. Either he would be captured, or he would die of cold. Either way, he felt it was the end.

Asher stood, bathed in the warm moonlight. Next to her, a young boy slept peacefully. She placed her hand beside him, her gentle eyes watching for any signs of danger.
"Dewy," she murmured softly. "what are we going to do?"
This boy seemed to be the only thing she lived for now. Her family and friends, gone. She had to protect him. All she wanted was to stay out of people's way and live a quiet life selling her goods and medicine to others. But her anima would not allow it. She was meant to be free, she was not meant to live the life of a humans.
Suddenly, shouts pierced the air. Lights danced across the walls and streets. Asher snarled, immediately shifting her position protectively around the boy. The guards have long been searching for Dewy, but they didn't understand. He didn't belong with the others...with royalty. They didn't love him. He was Asher's family now, the only one she had. And she would live by that until her last breath.
She tried to take in deep breaths to steady her anima, her strawberry-blond hair falling lightly over her shoulder as she bowed her head.
Mustering the last of her strength, she picked up Dewy. How much longer could they run? She ran as fast as she could from the men, pushing herself and the boy into a nearby alley.

Skye took a deep breath, he had escaped the soldier's grasps. His aching body wished he was in the warm sea on a sunny day. But no, he was outside, cold and exhausted. His body would soon fall if it had to go any farther. His mind told him to keep going. He pushed forward. He soon fell in the dirt. He was tired and he had no will to go further. His fair was powedered with dirt, and since he was sweating, his hair, instead of the silvery blue, it was brown and copper.
Carefully he rested. But as soon as he heard the guards, he dashed. Into the city he ran. His tired legs hurt. The wounds in his ankle cut down deeper than usual. His scars on his neck felt hot, like there was a plus anima near by. Maybe 2 or 3.
Of course he knew there were prisoners, but these plus anima were near. And he was no were near the place they took the prisoners.
Using his last ounce of power he plowed through and made his way into a small alley.

Feet pounded nearby. Luiva scooted back farther. He squeezed his eyes shut. Wishing for his home. His stomach was an empty hole, his body screamed "Feed me or die!"
"Sustoti.." he whimpered, "sustoti, sustoti..."
He curled into a ball against the cold. Why had he done this? Why did he left his father, his military send him into such a strange land? In the midst of a war of all times?
He heard footfalls dangerously close. He hugged himself tighter and kept silent. His body shook and the vision of his home country became blurred and was overtaken by fever. "Sustoti."

Asher listened in the darkness ash she set Dewy down again. Strange whispers floated around the two, sending shivers down her spine. Not but several heartbeats later, a figure swung into the alley. Immediately Asher pulled out her dagger and pressed it into the figure's chest, pushing it into the wall. In the moonlight, she could see the face of the intruder. A boy, her age at least.
"Who are you?" she hissed in the darkness. "A guard?" Her soft eyes turned hard.
