(XD I cracked up so much! I hadn't even envisioned Mouse to be that kind of character!)
Removing her arm from around Taron, Ruko folded them, looking up at Shark. "So, why are you guys suddenly out of hiding? I wasn't even sure who was watching us until... oh, about a week ago."
Mouse smiled at Ruko's words. "We're the best, Tiger! Surely you can't have forgotten that?" As Ruko only rolled her eyes to respond, Mouse sighed slightly, continuing. "Well, we don't have ta watch ya anymore. We've got to go up on an re-" Her eyes flicked towards Taron, and she stopped, catching herself, before continuing. "We've gotta go on an 'R' mission, up in Steria, so we thought we catch ya before we left."
Shark, realizing that Mouse had forgotten a vital part of the mission, added on. "Snake wants to see you too, Tiger." At Ruko's exhasperated sigh, he continued, giving her a look. "You must go back to see him sooner or later. And before you do that..." His eyes flicked in Taron's direction. "You might want to get rid of the... stray."
Ruko responded quickly to Shark's statement. "Ain't gonna happen. Taron leaves when he wants to AND when I let him. And that's not now, or preferably anytime soon."

((XD yeah she just comes across as like that to me, lol))
Taron looked down, stuffing his hands in his (new) pockets. One day he'd bite back at that shark guy, but not now; he simply couldnt be bothered, and didnt like the idea of anoying someone he knew very little about. Stray...stray! Maybe if Taron had been a mangey dog or something, yeah, but even in that case it was a nasty thing to say, he thought. A stray was something you used to describe a lost homeless animal, not a person, for heavens sake. If they regarded him as no better than a homeless pet, then they were as bad as the people of Sailand, the people who bought and sold +anima as goods. He wanted to say this to their faces, but in the end, he just mumbled 'm-not a stray...'
Yeah...Taron was pretty awful at sticking up for himself.
Luckily though, Claw handled it pretty well; he'd have to thank her later. Taron was not something to be gotten rid of either. He didnt mind that Claw would be the one to 'let' him leave, he was more grateful for the part about her not intending him to go anytime soon, which made him feel good inside.

Mouse shrugged. "Whatever." She knelt down, yanking off Thofte from Shark's leg. "Oy! Sun! Ain't ya gonna say hi or anythin'?" He gave her a hug, grinning brightly. "That's more like it!" Straightening back up, she grinned at Ruko. "Well, Tiger, we couldn't stay long. We just wanted to say hi." With that, she kissed Thofte on the top of his head, high-fived Ruko, and winked at Taron. "See yas!" Then, she vanished back into the alleyway.
Shark took a bit more time to say his good-byes. First, he ruffled Thofte's hair, which the younger boy didn't protest in the slightest. "Bye, Tiger. Don't be a stranger, now." He gave her a hug, kissing her on the top of the head. As he strode past Taron, he stopped, and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly. "Keep her safe, Taron." With that, he was gone.
Ruko folded her arms, looking in the direction they had gone. "That was nice, seeing them again." She grinned at Taron. "I gotta say, you made quite an impression on them. I think they both liked you!" There was no hint of sarcasm in her voice at all.

((really love Shark and mouse, absolutely awesome character designs! really, well done))
'ugh...' Taron moaned, after they'd dissapeared. Now they'd gone, he found he could talk again, but oddly, he couldnt think of anything to say. Instead he found a wall and leant against it, staring at the sky. That often helped, when he got muddled.
Keep her safe, Taron
Yeah like it was gonna be that way round. He thought he'd made it obvious what a complete wuss he was; if anything, it would be him needing the protection. Sharks comment had been strangely commanding; which made Taron feel uneasy. Also no need to point out how outraged he'd been at Bane's lack of reaction to the guys goodbye motion.
'Like me, huh?' he said, adressing Claw for the first time since the encounter ((I think)). The blood lines on his face were dry now, and felt stiff when he changed facial expression, but he still just didnt feel like cleaning it off right now. Instead he just sank to the floor and sighed. 'Some way of showing 'like'... What now?'

(Thanks! They're actually my top characters at the moment. It's kind of ironic, though. Mouse is the most childish character I have, and she's the only one that'll occasionally throw out a swear word. XD)
Ruko was forced to keep her patience in check. "If they didn't like you, they'd wouldn't feel comfortable enough to tease you. They like you, so they did. Every word of that was pretty much teasing, Taron." At his question, she turned it back to him. "Well, you're the one we're shopping for. Do ya need anything more, or are we done?"
Thofte walked over to Rok, who was sitting on the ground against the wall. Tipping his head to the side, he looked at him, concerned. "Rok?"

((XD you mean swearwords like s-p-o-o-n XD (crazy site censoring)))
Taron shrugged in acceptance of Claw's explaination, though he didnt have to be happy about it.
'Ha....i dont know, i think i'm done' How lame, to be at the peak of your daily activity, and to not have anything to do. He could almost guarantee that later on, he'd want to do something, and simply wouldnt have the energy. 'Your turn now' she could decide what to do with the rest of the day.
Bane was looking at Taron strangely, it was actually quite disturbing. It could be because of the amount of blood on his face. He could still feel his eyes leaking, and as he hadnt paused to clean up properly, the blood must have built up. He probably looked a right state. Leaning his head back, he twitched a smile. It was difficult staying mad at the little boy, and Taron was too soft anyway. 'mm?'

Ruko sighed. Now she had to pick something? Just great... "First, clean your face off. It's disturbing. Secondly..." She trailed off, thinking. "Well..." She sighed again, shrugging. "I dunno. That's why I never go into towns. I never know what to do." Ruko turned to Thofte. "Bane, you wanna do anything?"
Thofte looked back up at his older sister, thinking. "Hmm..." A thought occurred to him, and he pulled his money that she had given him out of his pocket. "Ruko! Law eh! Law eh!"
Ruko smiled. "You want to go shopping? Now?" Her younger brother nodded vigorously. "Well, there's your answer, Taron. We're going shopping, wherever Bane wants to go."

Despite already knowing about it, Taron felt a tad embarassed when Claw pointed out that he needed to clean his face. Taking out his red hanky, Taron licked it and set about wiping all he could off; always difficult when he couldnt see what he was doing. After a while he looked up. 'Any more?' he asked, motioning to his face.
So Bane wanted to go shopping. Fair enough, the boy had had to wait whilst he and Claw had bought their new clothes, and hadnt been much of a pain at all throughout the day. Taron had no issues with letting Bane lead for a while, and was also somewhat curious to see what the boy would want to spend his money on.

At Taron's question, Ruko shook her head. "Nope. You're good." She walked over, roughly pulling him to his feet. "Come on, he's leading the way." She still held on to his hand, and Thofte grabbed on to her other hand, pulling her through the crowd, and she pulled Taron. While being pulled and pulling, it was quite difficult not to bump into anyone, but Ruko managed. She was good at things like that.
Thofte stopped outside the closest bookstore. Releasing Ruko's hand, and noting that she didn't release Rok's, once again, he pointed, smiling. "Law eh! Law eh!" That was where he wanted to go shopping at. The book store.
Ruko sighed. "I should've known. The book store. Of course." She didn't let go of Taron's hand, hoping to irk him again. "Bane loves his stories."

Taron flinched once again when his hand was yanked, pulling his whole self through the masses of people. He had to really concentrate just to stop another flow messing his face up again; which was actually really something considering it was concentrating that usually induced the bleeding. He was too caught up in this that he didnt have time to feel embarassed.
When they stopped, Taron took a while to slow himself down mentally (nice and slow else it would start again). Only after a while did he look up, and see the bookstore. He shrugged inwardly; it could have been worse, and Taron, despite hardly ever venturing into one, considered bookstores quite warm and welcoming. Still...Bane couldnt read, could he? Actually, Taron had no idea, and he himself wasnt the best at reading. Maybe Bane would pick out a simple picture book, the ones about ducklings and gingerbread men and big bad wolves (which was really stereotyping wolves, he thought) and then if he had to, Taron wouldnt find it that difficult reading to the boy.
'Thats cool...' Quite sweet, that a little boy who had to face a harsh reality everyday still loved storybooks; it really added to his innocence. After Bane had wandered inside, and the other two were about to follow, Taron turned to Claw. 'Can he read...?'

At Taron's question, Ruko let go of his hand, frowning slightly. "Of course! He's ten, after all. He devours books!" Shaking her head at Taron's ignorance, she followed her younger brother into the store. Perhaps she'd get a book as well. Heading directly over to the teens section, she searched through the books, finally finding one that caught her interest. Storm Theif. Sounded interesting.
Thofte headed for the children's section, going straight for the thicker books. Being not that picky, he soon located a book that looked very interesting. Magyk. Turning to the back, the young boy noted the number of pages. 564 pages plus a bonus section. Well, it'd certainly keep him entertained for awhile.

((XD storm theif, if its anything like the storm theif i've read, its a good book!))
Taron stayed quiet from then on. Fine, Bane could read, how was Taron to know? If anything Bane came across as not the brightest of children, having most likely missed out on a normal life of education. Then again, Taron couldnt deny that the boy was a fine little theif. Better than Taron, probably, and so he could easily be better than him at reading too. Hah!, maybe it would be Bane reading to Taron, and not vice versa afterall. Taron felt more inferior than ever, but oddly, he found it amusing.
Following them inside, Taron scanned the many rows curiously, but soon just decided to go and sit in the quiet corner, where other people had sat down to have a look at the books. It smelled funny in here, but it was a comforting smell; of ink and pages. He watched people pick out big thick novels, and wished he could partake himself. He wanted a big book of his own, he wanted to be able to read it, understand it, and know it, like a friend almost. He couldnt though, lacking the word intelligence, and wouldnt be able to take it with him on his travels. It would get too roughed up, and just wouldnt fit in with the life he lived. Books were for the wealthy, for the lazy, for those who dont have so many other things on their mind. Taron didnt really fall into any of those catagories, and he watched on, watched the other people, and feeling so unbearably different, seperated...apart from them all.

(Is it by Chris Wooding? Cause THAT was a good book right there...)
Thofte sat down on the floor, flipping through his new-found book and looking at the sketches that were at the beginning of each new chapter. He really wanted to start reading it right now, but if he did, he'd get sucked in and then Ruko would have to make him stop reading and he'd probably throw a fit... It just wouldn't be good.
Ruko, having obtained a book, as she still needed to finish her last one, which she hadn't gotten that into, cast her eyes around, looking for both Taron and Thofte. She spotted Taron first, sitting in the corner. She made her way over to him, noticing he didn't have a book. "You're not going to get a book?" Ruko asked incredulously.

((yep, thats the one! i like vago best))
Taron looked up at her, at first not sure what to say. Then he just shrugged. 'What for?' I suppose it was odd to come into a bookstore and not want to buy a book, but he had a reason; he'd come in with friends, and that didnt mean he himself had to buy one. Still, it was funny that he now felt left out. Maybe he should buy a cheap one so as not to get more comments from Claw, or strange looks from others who were reading in the corner.
'I mean...I cant' Taron wasnt about to admit to her that he was a poor reader. 'It would get all ruined anyway, and i need the money more for food and stuff. you can live without books...' Yeah maybe you could live without them, but did he want to? It was like that with all the good things in life, you always wanted them, not needed, but in terms of money, you had to put needs first. He sighed inwardly.

He wasn't going to buy one because it would get ruined? "That's the point of buying it! It's yours, and then it won't matter if it's ruined." Ruko sighed, biting her cheek in order to keep her temper in check. "One, two, three, four..." Recovering, she looked back at Taron. "I'll pay. Just trust me, get a book." Besides, he'd feel kind of left out when she and Thofte were reading, and he didn't really have anything to do. They usually did that when it got dark and they stopped.
Thofte, not seeing Ruko or Taron anywhere, though the fact he was sitting behind a bookshelf didn't help, decided that he would begin reading. It couldn't hurt too much, could it? After all, he'd just read one chapter, and then look for the pair. Smiling, he started the prolouge, getting pulled into the story almost immediately.
