Ryker shrugged. "I never stay in one place for long. Here, the hunters would have a harder time capturing me, since its illegal here. Especially if I was in a gang. Ever since I escaped out of slavery I have been going place to place, on the run. I guess my main reason for coming here is because I'm tired of running all the time. I want to find other plus anima, or at least find a group that I could fit into. I know those are stupid excuses, but...I just want to find some place where they would accept me.

Age shook his head, smiling slightly. "Those aren't stupid excuses! That's actually completely reasonable." As if remembering something, Age dug out his notebook from his coat pocket, and began flipping through the pages, looking for something. "I actually might be able to help you with that. I know a gang of +Anima, actually, THE gang of +Anima that operates in both Sailand and Asteria."
He stopped, having found the right page. "Yeah, right here." Age was just talking to himself. "Their leader is called 'Snake'... And, according to the most recent reports, which are a few weeks old, one of their parties was heading to Rock Porter..." He looked up from his notebook. "Any of that sound interesting?"

Ryker glanced up sharply. "Interesting? What do you think! The only plus anima I ever met was back in Asteria, when I was being trained as a-" He stopped abrupty. "Well, you get the picture." He glanced sideways, making sure no one was listening in. no one was. "Rock Porter, huh? I wonder...." He shook his head. "Sorry. Yeah, it sounds interesting."
He bit into his steak again, chewing and swallowing quickly. "I suppose I owe you something then, in exchange for this information."

Age took a bite of stew, as it was cooler now. Hearing Ryker's last statement, he looked up, smiling. "Nope. Just meeting you was good. I don't need any information." He took another small bite of stew, before continuing. "But... You might need a bit more."
Age looked at his notebook again. "According to my informant, the party headed toward Rock Porter is made up of two people. Shark and Mouse. Shark, a taller, menacing guy with black hair. Mouse, a cheerful girl with blonde hair." He looked up, setting his notebook back down. "They weren't sure, but you should look out for them if you head there."
He continued on his stew.

Shark and Mouse, I'd remember the names. By this time I had finished my steak. How long had we been here? There were no clocks here, to my disappointment.
Ryker thought for a moment. He had to repay this kid somehow, but he didn't have any money. Ryker watched as his flipped through his notebook. Maybe something to add to his collection.
"I so have to repay you, Age," Ryker said at last. "I would have a guilty conscious otherwise."
He tapped his fingers against the table. "My family and I...we weren't rich or poor. We lived in Sailand for awhile but my father wanted to go to Asteria. He knew we would have a better life there. We didn't have any money to travel by boat, so we decided to cross Moss Mountain."
Ryker swallowed as the memories began to overwhelm him. "Our timing was bad. We got caught in a snowstorm. My mother, sister and I managed to find shelter. Father wasn't so lucky. After a bit, I decided I needed to go out and find him. I thought I could save him. Try as I might, my body began to freeze and eventually I got trapped in the snow. At that moment, I realized I would die." Ryker hesitated. "I've never really told this to anyone before. Its hard to put this all in words...."
"I got my anima that day, and survived the blizzard. When I found the place my mother and sister had stayed, it was empty. I found my father, though. Buried in the snow, his body stiff and frozen....."

Age looked up from his stew, surprised. He didn't have to... As Ryker told his story, Age's eyes grew wider, and sympathetic. He had never known his family, though he had lost his adopted one. When Ryker trailed off, Age, unsure if he was finished, held up a hand. "Stop. You're obviously in pain. You need to stop talking."
He pushed his empty bowl aside, dropping his notebook, with plenty of detailed notes, into his coat pocket. Putting the money for both of their meals on the table, Age stood up, swinging his pack over his shoulder. "Thanks, Ryker. It was nice meeting you."

Ryker nodded to Age and stood. "Same. I think I'll try to find Mouse and Shark, find other anima."
He smiled. "See you around." Ryker walked to the door, swinging it open. He took in a longing breath. He felt himself transform in the moonlight, energy pouring through him. And with a giant bound, he leapt into the air.

Age smiled as he saw Ryker transform, and leap into the air. +Anima... He longed to be one, and yet... They suffered so much hardship, had such hard lives... But still, that longing to be free like that, to be able to change, that still stuck with him. He had lived hardships, too, but he didn't get any +Anima for them! It was a blessing a curse at the same time...
Sighing, Age nodded at the waitress, walked down the door, and began to go down the road. Who knew where his path would lead this time? To somewhere different, and perhaps another adventure...
