By the time Ashel had gone through the buffet, he was carrying a plate of a couple eggs with cheese, some pasta salad, and a few slices of bacon and ham, along with some berries for himself, in one hand, and a cup of fruit juice in the other.
He paused after stepping out of the way of the line, though, uncertain of where to sit.
Should I...go sit with Kimi? I mean...we are traveling companions after all... But, we've never actually had a real meal together before... Would she...mind?
Eventually, he padded over to her table, stopping next to her before sitting down. "Umm...do you mind if I sit here?" He asked, finding himself nervous of the answer.

"Sure" Kimi said, looking up at Ashel. She kind of expected him to go off and try to talk to others, but maybe that was what she just wanted. Not for him to leave her alone, but to go off and mingle. She looked back down at her food and grabed her glass, taking a sip of the milk.

Glad that she didn't seem to mind, he sat down across from her, starting to pick at his meal.
He looked around at the chattering groups gathered around the other tables, pondering where he might've found to sit if she'd wanted him to leave. Due to both his intense studies and the secret he had to carefully keep, he'd become something of a social outcast. He tended to get nervous when talking to people he didn't know. But I'm going to have to get passed that, now. I'm on a ship to a foreign country. The only person I know here is Kimi, and I don't even know her that well!
"So...umm...have you ever been to Astaria before?" He stuttered, trying to start a conversation. His wandering thoughts had led him to wonder just what awaited him in this country he'd never seen before.

Kimi looked at him suprised. Of course she hadn't been to Asteria, but he didn't know that. Either that or maybe he just wanted to start some kind of conversation just to get to know her better. I guess he does have the right...we are traveling together at the moment. We should get to know each other better. she thought to herself as she picked up one of her strawberries and eat it.
"Uh...no. What about you?" she said, only then realizing that she knew that this had been his first time traveling. The first time she traveled -that was a major travel- was when she was kidnapped by the slave traders. "I-I mean, have you ever traveled before" she said, noticing it was a lame save.

So...she didn't know what awaited them in Astaria, either...
He shook his head, answering her own stuttered question. "No...I've hardly even been out of Stella. Especially after I -" He abruptly cut himself off, realizing what he was about to say.
Especially after I became a +anima, my parents kept me somewhat isolated after that to decrease the chances of anyone else finding out... He couldn't say that out-loud, though. Even if he was sitting with Kimi, he couldn't be sure that no one would overhear. He knew his parents had only been trying to protect him, but at the same time it'd been a somewhat lonely existence, and, as he was realizing now, had left him unprepared for real adult life. Maybe that was the reason they'd let him go this time - maybe they'd realized they needed to.
"Err...anyway...this is actually the longest trip I've ever taken by far..." He finished, hoping no one had heard his slight mistake. He figured Kimi realized what he'd been referring to, though.
Kimi... A thought suddenly came to him, summoning another question to his lips.
"Umm...where do you come from anyway...where did you...live?" It only just occurred to him how different this trip was to her than it was for him. Neither of them had seen Astaria before, but for her, this foreign country would become her new home. He would be returning to his family, his comfortable house, his familiar routine, after this was over, but she... The home she'd known with her family...the place she'd grown up...she'd probably never be going back there again...

"Um...I lived in a small village on the far west coast. And it was a far travel from there to Stella" Kimi said with a suprising giggle. True, it was a far trip, but it somehow seemed like a joke to her.
"It is called Kenton. Have you heard of it?" she asked Ashel as she ate up the last of her strawberries and moved on to eat the rest of her toast that she had bitten off before she ate up her strawberries.

"...Kenton..." Ashel repeated thoughtfully, trying to place the name. "Oh, yeah, I remember hearing about it in one of my classes, once." He suddenly recalled. That's right. It was a small village surrounding a lake and a forest. "It sounded like a comfortable place, but I've never seen it..."
Such a small village must've been much different from the busy capital she was dragged to. He felt a surge of pity. It still seemed so sad that she would likely never get to go back there again...
"Umm...what do you plan to do once we get to Astaria?" He asked, suddenly curious. "Where do you plan to live?"

"I don't know. I was thinking of learning to cook, professionally. And living..." Kimi trailed off as she took a bite of her eggs. "Traveling, I guess. I don't quiet know at the moment. Maybe I'll think more of it when we near Asteria." she finished, returning back to her food.
After finishing her food, she looked back up at Ashel and asked, "What subjects do you know? I mean, I remember you taking leasons "Duh "And I was woundering which subjects you took them in."

Ashel sighed slightly. "Well...I don't have any specific field right now. For the most part, I'm just getting a kind of all around education. My main teacher - the one that hates +anima... - instructs me in the basics of mathematics and language, that woman you met was an art tutor, and I also a history and geography instructor as well as a couple of science teachers... I don't really know what I want to be, though, or have any real goals beyond that... My parents have always wanted me to go into some type of science, but..." His voice trailed off, the boy looking down slightly.
True, that was what his parents wanted for him - a high level, all around education, followed a prestigious career in science, but...did he want that? He suddenly realized he didn't know. He hadn't decided for himself what he wanted yet.
He looked back over at Kimi, smiling slightly. "Being a professional cook and traveling... That sounds like a nice way to live. Maybe it'll be easier to know for sure what you're going to do once you get there, though. I'm still really curious what it'll be like..."

"Yeah, I guess." Kimi said as she finished up the last of the food on her plate, not leaving a crumb left. She didn't lick the plate or anything, she's just really careful while eating food. She doesn't stuff her mouth like most of the people here on the boat. And she was brought up where what you could get, you eat so she learned to it to the fullest. Maybe when ,or if, she became a cook, she could serve to the poor.
That would be nice.. she thought to herself, deamily as a waiter came by, taking away her empty plate. Hm...I've never gotten service like that. she thought, feeling weird that she didn't work or anything after breakfast. Relaxing was somthing she partly wasn't used to, due to her background of working and everythign of that sort.
"So..." she said, trying to fill the empty silence between them. "Then, what do you have in mind for the future? You're not going to have your parent's to protect you and you'll have to fend for yourself, meaning: take some risks. Don't live your life in fear, alright Ashel?"

Ashel paused before answering, slightly taken aback at first by her sudden comments.
She was right, though. He didn't want to live his life in fear, and he didn't want to live his life as a shadow controlled by what his parents wanted for him, either.
It hadn't been long ago that he'd met her, but slowly he found himself start to feel different. Everything that had happened with her had begun to break the protective shell he'd built around himself. And maybe, meeting a girl like her, that he was really getting to know on equal ground, was making him feel different about +anima, too...
But...how can I ever make something of myself if my +anima doesn't go away? If anyone ever finds out what I am, I'll be... If...if nothing else, though, I guess I could live...in Astaria.
He blinked at the thought, the idea all at once coming to him.
No. Sailand was his home. His home was with his family in Stella. But...even though being a +anima would still likely make things harder, in Astaria, he wouldn't have to worry about being found out and enslaved. Living there...made sense.
He shook his head, dismissing the thoughts. He didn't want to think about that, even if he realized it was a decision he might at some point have to make.
"Umm..." He finally sputtered, trying to answer. "Y...yeah...I know... I still haven't decided what I want yet, but I'm not going to let myself be controlled by fear, that I have decided." Another moment passed, a slight smile coming to his face. "But, thanks for caring." Beyond anything else, her words meant that, at least somewhat, she actually cared enough to want him to end up happy.

Kimi smiled at the thanks Ashel gave her, trying to make him a bit happier, if she could. Anyways, it was kind of her fault he was being dragged along with her? But maybe it was a good thing. Maybe he could stay in Asteria, and live a life that isn't covered in fear of being found out he was a +Anima.
In Asteria, he could be who he wanted without his parents coming in and directing him down the path they wanted him to go down. But that was just how Kimi say Ashel's parents. Maybe his parents were nice, and she just never saw that. They did keep their son's +Anima a secret, but being a +Anima sounded bad the way they had said it. Calling it a mistake that their son was a +Anima. How could it be a mistake!? Without that, he could have died falling out that window!
"Um..." Kimi said, snapping out of her angry daze. "I'm going to go back up to the deck. It looks nice outside." she said. Fall was coming around. Sure, early fall was nice and stuff, but might as well make the last of summer last.
Getting up out of her seat, she pushed it back in and left for the deck. Walking down the halls, she saw a few more passengers go down to the main room where she had just been. On the deck, she didn't see many people except the captin (who was drinking some coffee) and a few crew members cleaning the deck/ decorating it.
"Oi, girly" the captin called, Kimi walked up to him. "You still wearing that collar, I see."-she nodded-"Well, when are you going to take it off?" she shrugged, woundering when she was going to.
"What's with the decorations?" she asked.
"Oi, those? We're having a dance tonight. We have this ol' thing everytime we set sail for Asteria. You know, a new start. I personally hate Sailand." he said with a smile. She smiled back. Somehow, it seemed like the captin like +Animas.

Ashel lingered behind at the table for a while longer after Kimi left, grabbing a cup of coffee for himself as he sat alone with his thoughts and the noise of the crowds nearby.
Growing uncomfortable and tired of it, he decided to go see what Kimi was doing out on the deck. He caught himself give a brief sigh, though.
Hopefully she wont mind - I guess I do tend to follow her a bit... But being outside does sound nice - I wouldn't want to miss the last of the summer air, and I'm just starting to get used to the ocean breeze.
He took a deep breath as he stepped out onto the deck, finding himself smiling at the brisk, salty air. Taking a few glances around, he spotted Kimi fairly quickly, realizing that she was talking with the captain. Surprised, he walked over towards her. "What's going on?" He asked curiously, suddenly catching sight of the decorations being put up as well.

"Oh!" Kimi said as she turned around to see Ashel. "Um...they're having a party tonight." she said, looking up at the Captian.
"Yup" he said thinking that this might be who Kimi was traveling with. "Annual thing. Tonight, somewhere around...um..."
"Seven, sir" one of the crew members said. Kimi wounded if the Captian did this alot- a bad memory.
"Yeah, seven. You two should come." the Captian said, friendly winking towards Kimi. She blushed, not because of the wink, but at the thought of going to the dance with Ashel. She would rather prefer that she stay down in the cabin, but she'd still be with Ashel then.
[[Haha, Kimi's thoughts are weird XD]]

Ashel blushed himself, realizing what the man was insinuating.
The thought made him feel awkward for more reasons than one. Aside from a few of the nobel's parties and balls, he hadn't been to any sort of dance for years, and he had a feeling that this party would be quite different then the stuffy, quiet parties and stiff dances of the nobels...
And...if the two of them went - him and Kimi - did that mean they'd be going as...partners? He glanced over at Kimi, realizing that her cheeks were red as well.
"E...er...well...what do you think?" He asked, his voice sputtering nervously as he tried to hide his blush.
