"Well I-I guess it-t could be fun." Kimi said, stuttering a bit. Maybe this boat ride could be her last chance at having fun without having to worry about anything. Really, she was going to go off and live in Asteria and work to earn money.
The only part she would have to worry about ,though, is not accedently yelling at Ashel again, when to take off the collar and how she was going to get a job over in Asteria! Alright...I shouldn't be listing the things I shouldn't worry about. It's making me worried, she worried.
She pushed away her worried thoughts. She thought too much, but that might come in handy later on. Finnally, she found herself asking the weirdest question. "What do you think of about +Animas?"
The Captian looked dumbstruck by the sudden, out-of-the-blue question. "Well, er, I um..." he began, remembering that he had let Kimi fly last night. "I think they're having everything dumped on them just 'cause their different. I mean, what is so wrong about them?!" he said nicely, almost making Kimi feel a bit better.

Ashel blinked at the captain's response, almost taken aback. Living where he did, that wasn't something he heard very often. Actually, he wasn't sure he'd ever heard a response to such a question that wasn't blatantly negative. It made him feel...good, to hear that someone didn't blame them for what they were.
He had to be careful not to smile too much, though - he still didn't want anyone getting suspicious of him. Curious of her reaction, he turned towards Kimi, noticing that her lips had upturned just ever so slightly.
Looking at her, however, abruptly brought his thoughts back to the dance, once more turning his cheeks slightly red. "S...so, you want...to go? Y...yeah...I guess it might actually be fun, but...I don't think that I'm a particularly good dancer..." He admitted, hoping he wouldn't completely embarrass himself later.

"Me either" Kimi admited "But your right, it might be fun" she said as she took in a breath, hoping her cheeks would be less red. She looked up at Ashel, feeling an aqward silence. There just wasn't anything to talk about now, and it wasn't time for the dance yet. (duh)
"So..."she said just to stop the silence, talking directly to Ashel "What's there to do now?"

"Umm..." He stuttered, trying to think of something. What kind of things did people do on boats, anyway? He had no idea. "Well...maybe we could go see if there are any board games or activities set up in the main room..." He suggested, unable to come up with anything else.

"Hm" Kimi said, pretending to be interested. It's not like Ashel was in chage of activites or anything, really. "Sounds fun" she said as she looked up at the Captian, giving him a thank-you look. She really liked it that he said that. Maybe he just said that because he didn't want her to feel bad, but even so, that though still made her feel a bit better.

"Well...I guess we can go see what we can find..." Ashel suggested, turning towards the main room. He could tell that she wasn't particularly interested, and in all honesty, neither was he, but what else was there to do? And this was only the first full day... This was going to be a long trip...
He started walking back into the main room of the indoor area. The breakfast booths had been put away, but there were still crowds gathered around, talking and playing games of their own over the tables.

"Hey look" Kimi said as she noticed a checkers tabel no one was using. "Why don't we go play checkers?" she asked as she walked over to the tabel. It had a small, checkered cloth thrown over the tabel as the board and the peices on the side, stacked tall of reds and blacks.
Sitting down, she tired to find a comphy spot on the wooden chair. Giving up on that, she began to set up the game. Every once in a while, she and her sister would sneak into their father's study and play it, but here she didn't have to worry about her father coming up from behind them and ruining their fun.
"Ever played this game?" she asked. Even if Ashel did study and take leasons, there still was the possiblity that he could have never played the game. That and it is poliet to ask.

"Well..." Ashel stared down thoughtfully at the pieces she was placing on the board. "Once or twice... My parents don't like to play games, and I've never really had anyone else to play with, so..."
He actually rather liked games, even though he didn't consider himself very good at them. He wasn't a lucky enough person, when it came to things like that. Playing them had never really been a part of his studies, either, so he wasn't particularly good with the strategic aspect. He sighed internally - this could end up being embarrassing, too. But he had to admit it was nice having someone to play with.
Decided that it seemed dumb to just sit there while she got the board ready, he randomly picked the black color and started setting up the tokens on his side the same way she was on the other. He blinked down at them as he finished. "So...should I go first, or do you want to go first?" He asked.

"I'll go" Kimi said, taking one of her black disks and moving it one space diangaly to the left, after long thought. She looked up at Ashel and said "Your move"
"Um...So -and I'm just guessing here- you missed out on your childhood? Or did you not have much of one?" She asked. She didn't have much of one, but when she was smaller -and her sister hadn't been born yet- she got all the attention and was a bit spoiled. When her mom accedentaly became pregnate with her sister, then the trouble started. Once her sister was born, they had less money and thats how their father became a work-o-holic. She loved her sister anyways, even though is was partly her fault they had money troubles.

"Err..." Ashel sputtered, taken off guard by the question. Such questions made him a bit uncomfortable - he didn't always like thinking so much. It hurt, sometimes. "Well... My parents put me full time into my studies practically before I could even talk - I guess that's what happens when your parents can afford anything they want. I know they only wanted the best for me, but I can't say I had much choice in the matter. It wasn't bad, necessarily, but I didn't have much free time, and the tutors I saw weren't the same ones as my peers. Because of that, I didn't have many friends...and wasn't particularly good at making them... Things didn't get really bad, though, until I, well..." He cut himself off again, catching his tongue. He mentally scolded himself - he had to be more careful to avoid mentioning anything involving his +anima. He kept his voice quiet as he continued, just in case anything he said might arouse suspicion, even if he didn't mention 'it' specifically. "After that, they purposely isolated me, because they thought I'd be safer. ...And because they were disappointed and ashamed, I think. The only places I ever got to go were my tutor's houses - my studies really did become my whole life, then... I guess you could say I missed out on a normal childhood..."
"Oh, it's my move, isn't it?" The boy abruptly changed the subject as he remembered the game, realizing that he'd rambled on for a bit longer than he'd expected. Taking a moment to ponder, he moved one of his own pieces diagonally to the right.

"Mmhm" Kimi hummed as she watched his move, then moving another one of hers toward one of his. She let go of the peice when she realized her peice was in position of being taken. Oh well...can't do anything about it now since I let go.
"So how did you get your parents to agree to let you and me" that last part sounded partly weird to her. You and...me., she thought to herself. "to go on this trip to Astria?"

"Err..." Ashel hesitated, blinking a few times at the question. He looked down blankly at the board as he answered. "Well...I think they felt like they had to. I'm...not very accustomed to anything beyond my home and the places where I study. I've never been without them trying to protect me, and make my decisions for me...but I'm not a child anymore, and they're starting to realize it, I think... I can't live like that forever." He answered, feeling his face redden in embarrassment at the way he figured that would sound. It wasn't that he'd wanted to live in his parent's shadow - he'd never had the choice of growing up differently, his +anima had taken it from him and forced him to withdraw under the protection of his family.
His life had been comfortable, but the cost had been making freedom seem strange and intimidating. Now that he was getting a taste of it, though, he realized that the thought of going back home - to the way things were before, didn't seem that pleasant anymore. He didn't want things to be that way again.
Trying to distract from the subject, he focused his attention back on the game. He considered moving one of pieces he had yet to move, but suddenly noticed that one of her pieces was vulnerable to being taken. He found himself surprised, not having expected to have the first opportunity to take a piece. Almost feeling like he was doing something wrong, he put his hand on the piece and moved it, taking out one of hers.

"Oh...well, that was...nice of them?" she said as she watched Ashel take one of her pieces and she countered with one of her own pieces taking the one that took her's in the first place. Kimi couldn't imagine being locked away for that long, or even at all. She would hate to be trapped in a house day after day, even if her father let her read his books and notes. Nothing ,to her, felt better than the outdoors, the lake's cold water, the wind in her face. Not really could replace freedom.
Deciding to not ask him any more questions, after noticing his redden, she twiddled her thumbs and thought of somthing to say, like a conversation, besides the ol' how-the-weather thing.

[[Oops! Hehe...sorry I'll edit my last post]] Ashel sighed inwardly as she took the piece he'd taken hers with, disappointed with himself for not noticing that she could counter. An awkward silence followed, though, as her questions finally ceased. Answering them had felt uncomfortable, but so did the quietness - he wasn't sure which got to him more. He looked over to her, trying to read her face, when he suddenly noticed a glint of sunlight coming through the window reflect off the pendant hanging from the collar she was still wearing. A thought came to his mind. He smiled slightly. "So...once you get to Astaria, you won't need to wear anything like that collar. We're not technically in Sailand anymore - when are you gonna take it off?" He asked, before moving one of his pieces near the left boarder of the board upward diagonally.

"Oh!" Kimi said, trying to be surprised; almost as if she had forgotten the fact she was wearing it. "Yeah, I forgot, I'm still wearing this thing" she lied, knowing that he could pick out that lie just by how the sound of her voice changed slightly.
"I guess I'll take it off now." Now or never... she thought to herself. It was hard for her to let things go, even if they were bad. She began to try to take it off, but she couldn't see where the hook (?) was, and when she did, she fumbled around trying to take it off. But in the end, it still didn't.
"Um...could you help me?" she asked, trying her best not to let her checks redden, but they turned a light pink instead.
