"But...?" Kimi asked, woundering if he really did hate his +anima, like his parents brought him up to know, but did he have a second option to it? Did he secertly like his anima dispite the fact that everyone else hated it? She did. She had always heard stories from the other villagers about dreaded monsters called +animas and every time she awnsered their questions differently, they'd scold her and tell her what she should say/ But when she gained it, she felt scared and different about her future.
She used on of her peices to take another one of Ashel's.

Ashel didn't answer right away, biting his bottom lip. He distractedly moved another one of his pieces forward, taking one of hers in return. "But..." He repeated again before looking back up, pausing as he tried to find the right words. That was something he wasn't usually very good at.
"I'm not sure... I'm not sure how I feel any more..." He started, still trying to gather his thoughts. "My father is a +anima hunter, you know, and aside from that, the only exposure I've ever really had to other +anima are the slaves my own parents treat like objects. It feels weird to even think of it in any other way..." His voice momentarily trailed off again, but a slight smile suddenly appeared at the corners of his lips, along with a sudden, unexpected red tint to his cheeks. "But...since I've met you, I think I've started to feel a little differently."

"Oh...it that so?" Kimi said, feeling her cheeks redden. I guess that means that she never reached her goal of not blushing for a hour. But did it really matter now? What Ashel had said...made her heart beat faster. She smilied a bit more. It was somewhat the same with her of what he had said. She never thought she would possibly get over her sister's death, but she did and it hadn't even been a month since...the incident. But in the time she had spend with Ashel, she felt a bit happier.
"I guess...that the same applies to me. I didn't think I'd get over...her...death, ever, really. But I think that...you make me happier" she said, slightly rushing the last part. She knew her face was really red now. She could see her face in Ashel's glasses when she tried to look into his glassy green eyes.
"Um...I think it's your turn" she said to get the blush to go away.

Ashel felt his own face turn from light pink to bright red as heat suddenly rushed to his cheeks.
I...make her feel happier...?
How could someone worthless like him possibly make her happier? But, she looked him right in the eyes when she spoke the words, a small, but genuine looking smile on her equally red face.
Not knowing what words to say, he just returned the gaze, letting his eyes met her beautiful irises as an embarrassed smile that was probably wider than he'd intended spread across his face. He could feel his own heart start to flutter faster, a warmth in his chest as well as his cheeks. Even though he couldn't get his tongue to work, it was probably visible on his face just how much hearing someone say something like that meant to him. "I...I'm...not quite sure how I could make anyone happy...but... If I make you happier, then that makes me happier, too..." He finally spoke, still feeling the heat on his face.
If, in someway, he made her happier, then maybe he wasn't so worthless at all.
"O...oh..." He suddenly sputtered, her reminder that it was his turn sinking in. "My turn... R...right..."
He looked back down at the board, as his deep blush started to fade just slightly. Unable to take anymore pieces, and having a hard time focusing on the game, he simply moved one of his up a space.

Kimi looked down at the board. Ashel had only a few pieces left, while she had a few more than him. At the moment it looked like she was going to win this game, unless he can take more in the next few turns. She moved the king piece she had and took two of Ashel's pieces.
I just wounder, do I really like Ashel? I mean, he bought me before that other man could and...but he just did this so I would keep his secert, but then again, he could have just told his dad, and then i'd be dead. But...I think I...like Ashel, she thought to herself as her blush dimmed down quiet a bit. Maybe she did like Ashel, but she didn't really know. It was sort of a mixed feeling.
"So..." she began, now not liking the sielence anymore. "Are you going to go back home when I'm over in Asteria?" she asked him.

...Going back home...
At first, even leaving home had been hard, but... The way he felt now...he didn't think he'd ever felt this way, back in his safe home, with his safe, regular routine, and cooped up with his family. He felt more like a whole person. It wasn't that he didn't miss his parents, but he could make his own decisions now, and he could be away from their judgemental eyes - he didn't have to hide beneath their shame.
The thought of going back didn't seem so appealing anymore. And...
He looked back up Kimi. If he went back home afterwards, he would never get to see her again, would he? He wasn't quite sure why, but even the thought opened up an emptiness in his heart. What is this...? I...I...don't want to go back...I want to be with her... Why...? Do I...do I have...feelings...for her? Something inside him flipped inwardly, admitting the thought even only in his mind feeling strange. It was as if some part of him expected his parents to appear and scold him. But...only humans can feel this way... Am I...human...? He still didn't know the answer yet. He swallowed hard, giving his head a shake to push away his own confusing thoughts.
"Umm..." He started hesitantly, looking down uncertainly. "I haven't...decided yet..." He answered honestly, though he could hardly believe that those words had just left his mouth - it felt odd even saying that. He'd been so nervous to even leave his home - it was all he'd ever had - and yet now...he was considering not going back? But...if I don't go back, will I get to stay with her...? Will I be able...to keep on feeling...this way? But...his home... His family... Could he really just...? He wasn't ready to make this decision yet.
Trying to attract attention away from his answer, he focused back on the game. He managed to take a couple of her pieces this time, but his own were continuing to disappear quickly - he didn't have many left.

"Alright. I'll wait for your awnser" Kimi said, slightly happy. She was rather happy over the fact that he hadn't decided yet. If he had, it would most likely been to stay at his home. Really, he was allowed to pretend to be a normal person and was given the abbility to study and learn. She hadn't had those choices. It was all work and chores for her and her sister.
Looking down at the board, she studied it carefully. There was a possibility to take two of his peices, but then he could take her piece. But looking at the odds, she had the upper hand, so it really wouldn't matter if she lost one piece. She moved the one piece and took two of his. I guess that piece has a death wish, she thought to herself, inwardly giggling at her joke.
She looked back up at Ashel. He wasn't hansome, nor ugly; he was normal. Light brown hair, green eyes, glasses; he looked like a scholar. She partly envied that since she was one of those people that wasn't given the chance to study. Except the fact that she had snuck off with her fathers books and studied herbs and medicens. But she wasn't book smart, she just knew a few things from medicens to cooking.
"I'll be right back." she said getting up and walking off to the restrooms. She looked into the mirror. Her cherry brown hair was a reck and her clothes looked old and faded. The only okay part of her right now was her eyes and her tan, flawless skin. Turning on the faucet (sp?) she let the water run for a while until she held it in her hands and splashed it on her face.
The cool water felt good, and then she realized: she hadn't taken a shower since she was taken away by those slave traders. She must be filthy! Maybe she should take one back at the cabin; they had showers, right?
Returning back to the main hall, she found were she was once sitting and sat back down, awaiting for Ashel's next move.

"Alright. I'll wait for your answer."
Ashel blinked, surprised at the slight upturn of her lips and glow in her clear, green eyes. Was she...saying that she didn't want him to go back? Did she...want him to stay with her?
"I'll be right back."
She suddenly announced before he could think of anything to say in reply. She got up, heading in the direction of the restrooms.
He nodded and watched her leave, before rubbing a somewhat sweaty hand over his face and looking down at the game board. At least he had a moment to gather his thoughts, and think over the game.
It didn't look like the game would go on for too much longer - he didn't have many pieces remaining. He was going to lose, he realized, not seeing anyway he could manage to claim all of her remaining pieces before she could to the few pieces he had left. But that didn't mean he wanted to be completely passive, either. She'd taken a couple of his pieces on the last turn, but had left one of hers vulnerable. He could take it now, but, depending on her next move, he figured that he might be able to set up a bigger chain with it later.
Deciding to leave the piece for now, he moved one of his up that was a few spaces away from it as she returned and sat back down, waiting to see what she'd do next.

When she had returned, it looked like he had already taken his move. She had the upper hand, at the moment, but she must not let her gaurd down. She looked over the board, seeing the possibilites that could happen if she moved one of her pieces in the wrong direction. Finally, she moved a peice forward, not knowing what else to do.
There was a sielence. It felt alien, now. She wanted to say something, but didn't know what to say. She waited, not only for Ashel's next move, but hoping for him to say something to break the sielence.

Ashel stared at the board, trying to figure out what the best course of action might be - his lack of pieces made it hard. Eventually, he also just moved a piece up. Depending on what she did next, he might be able to either take a couple of her pieces, or at least one, next turn.
It stayed silent, making him feel awkward. He could tell that it was making her feel a bit awkward, too, which made him search his mind for something to say, just to break it.
Distractedly, he glanced up at the clock. They'd been playing their game for a while - a good hour and a half, anyway. He figured that it was almost over now, though, with the way his pieces were dwindling... What were they going to do afterwards before the dance? "It's peaceful, but time sure goes slowly on a boat, doesn't it? ...I wonder if they've started setting up for the dance yet?" He thought aloud, fumbling to find something to say.
[[Don't worry about it! *hugs back* It's hard to think of what to do with this current scene. XD]]

"Yeah, it's peaceful" Kimi agreed, then pondering on his question. "I think they are..." she said, moving a piece forward, taking only one of Ashel's. "...but it depends on how much they're putting out" she said, looking down at the board. She began to twidle with her thumbs. She used to be able to keep quiet without wanting to talk. It just felt weird. Even when she was with her sister, even if they were having a good time, Kimi had felt accusomed to silence.

Ashel fell back into silence as the question came and went, absently starting to twiddle his thumbs as she did.
He looked back down at the board. He could take another two of her pieces, but she would be able to take at least one of his next turn if he did. Deciding that the offense might be worth it, considering that he didn't think he'd last much longer anyway, he decided to make the move and take the pieces. He really wasn't all that good at this...but, with all the rest of the days where they'd be on the boat remaining, this probably wouldn't be the only time they'd play. "I wonder if we'll be really good at this game by the time we reach Astaria..." He commented to break the silence, a slight smile on his lips.

Kimi laughed a little. "I guess so, unless we decide that we'd like to play a different game" she said, though she enjoyed playing a game of checkers. Plus, she didn't like learning how to play new games, espically when she liked, and knew this game very well. If any other game, maybe chess, but she wasn't a wiz at that game and most of the pieces confused her, unlike the simple game of checkers when the pieces where all the same.
She moved a piece foreward, not taking any of Ashel's pieces. It didn't look like she could take any pieces without him taking any of hers, so she decided to play it safe for the moment. The game was almost over. She had four peices and he had three. Maybe he would let her take a bath after this...then again, why would he not? It's not like he's going to order her to stay stinky. She waited for his move impaitently, though she did not show it. She felt icky without being clean for so long.

Ashel nodded, trying to think about what other games they might play. The truth was that he didn't know that many - just chess, checkers as they were playing now, and a few card games. He wasn't sure that he had a favorite - he liked the complexity of chess, but it was a hard game to play when you weren't very experienced with it, and while he liked the faster pace of card games, he tended to have terrible luck with them. He was fine with checkers, but it was probably true that over the course of the trip they would need some more variety. Oh well, he was starting to think too far ahead now. If they got bored of checkers, he could always see if she had a preference. "That's true, we'll probably end up wanting to play more than just this. Do you have a favorite game?" He decided to ask, curious now.
He looked back down at the board, frowning slightly. His last move had evened the board somewhat - he had only three pieces remaining, whereas she had just one more at four. No matter how hard he scrutinized the board, though, he couldn't see any good move to make. The only option that he had to take one of her pieces would result in her being able to take one of his next turn. Regardless, he decided to make the move - the game was almost done anyway, and he was getting a bit restless, so he didn't mind taking a risk.

"Um, this is my favorite game" Kimi said with a smile. Then again, she didn't play any other games and this has been the only one she knew and knew how to play well. That is, except games like tag or hide-and-go-seek, but those were children's games and she doubted that she and Ashel would have much fun playing that...on a boat, and the last time she played those games was two years ago when her sister still liked them.
She advanced a piece towards Ashel’s in hopes to take the piece in a few more turns. She liked the fact that she was winning. Usually her sister won.
“What about you?” she asked. Maybe he had better tastes in, er, games than she did, or maybe he knew more games than she did.
[[XD should I name Kimi's sister?]]
