"Alright" Mika sang as she strode off towards the small inn. It looked more home-y than the others, but then again, there arn't many places a +Anima could call home for some reason. Maybe it was just the fact they were always scared or that their +Animas didn't want to stay put.
The inside off the in seemed larger than the outside. It had a water-y, light blue carpet and wood brown walls. It reminded Mika of the boat until she took notice of the furniture. They looked old and worn down as if this inn had been here for twenty years. Parts of the carpet were torn and you could see the wooden floor.
Walking up the the front counter, she asked how much it was to stay per night. Suprislingly, it was only fifteen gillah a room per night. Renting the room for a week, in advance, Mika turned to Kiri.
"Ok, I got a room for at least week, but we're going to need jobs now, or it's either no food or no rooms. Ok?" she said, then heading upstairs to go check out the room. "We're should we go get a job, anyways? This town doesn't seem like they need any help except..." except this place.

"Well..." Kiri pondered thoughtfully, as they walked down the hallway. "This inn seems like it could use some work - do you think the keeper would hire us?" She asked hopefully - that would be the easiest, and then they could be sure they wouldn't have to work in any smelly fish markets!
She opened the door to the room as she finished talking, reaching the entrance. She peeked inside. It was furnished with a bunk bed, a table and a few chairs, and a couple of dressers. Aside from that, it looked just like all the rest of the inn - it had a somewhat homey feel, but was rather rundown, with stains and tears in the carpet and walls.

"Well its a possibility, you know. This place does look like it would be a bit more popular if it didn't look sooo run down." Mika said, throwing her bag onto the top of one of the dressers and plooping down on the bottom bunk, streching out. The bed was soft and fluffy, but it was a bit torn in place.
"Oh, do you want the bottom bunk?" she asked, forgetting to ask if she wanted the bottom bunk. Even if it wasn't yet night time yet, the beds were nice enough to lay on. "'Cause Im totally fine if you want this bunk."
Truth be told, the top bunks were the worst on boats, for some reason- even if they were apart of the walls. Just somthing about being closer to the floor made it easier to sleep on, so bottom bunks were hard to get grabs on, on the boat.

Kiri just shook her head. "I don't care - I'm fine with the top bunk." She smiled, before hurrying up and padding up the ladder to make her point. She momentarily plopped onto her own bunk as she reached the top, letting her tired body sink into the musty smelling but soft mattress.
Sleeping on a top bunk actually reminded her of her home. Her old home. Her real home. The one she'd lived in with her father. She hadn't liked sleeping alone, so he'd shared a bedroom with her, taking the bottom of a bunk bed while she took the top.
Another moment passed as she forcefully put away the slight melancholy that had taken over her smile, the girl suddenly rolling over playfully and peering down at Mika. "Yeah - I like this place, but it is a bit icky in places. I bet we could make it look a whole lot nicer! Let's ask the innkeeper next time we leave the room!"

"Why not now!?" Mika said happily, jumping out of her bed. Standing on the frame of the bed and looked at Kiri. "Come on, let's go." And with that, she walked towards the door and down the stairs to the front counter.
A woman stood at the desk and looked busy working some paper work. Mika walked up to the desk and looked down at the paperwork with intrest, mainly because she wanted to know when she was going to be done so she could ask if they could help fix up the hotel.
"May I help you?" the woman asked, still working on the paperwork as she woundered why this girl was hovering.
"Um..." Mika began, trying to find the words to ask if they could help revise the place. "We noticed that this place looked like it needed some touch-ups and we were woundering if we could do it...as work." she said, trying to imply the fact that they wanted to be payed for this.
[[I'm going to be gone another 4 days before I get back on the comp. so I don't mind if you take your time posting.]]

"You see, we're probably going to end up staying here in this city for a while, but we need some way to make money." Kiri added, explaining directly what their interest was.
The woman looked at them thoughtfully, pondering for a moment. "I suppose this place is starting to show signs of its age... I was thinking about hiring help to fix it, but I don't have enough money to pay people high wages. I can offer you the job if you'd like, but I'm afraid I couldn't pay you much... The most I could offer would probably be three gillah an hour." She announced, waiting for their answer.
Three gillah...it wasn't much, but perhaps it would be all they would need. Kiri looked over at Mika. "What do you think?"

"Hm...well I guess it's good" Mika said, consitering other options for work. Then she accually thought about the other work. Selling fish? Fishing? No; she liked this job better. "Yeah, we'll take it" she said with a smile.
"So...where do you want us to start first?" Mika asked the lady.
"Well, I have new carpet in the back. Well, not new, but it's not faded. It goes here- in the front lobby. I could have one of my boys help you take the old one out, but you'll have to do the rest." the lady replied.

Kiri nodded, grinning. It didn't exactly sound like fun, but at the same time, a part of her was actually eager to start working again. She'd worked hard back at her home...on the farm with her father, and she'd been working jobs here and there ever since she'd been forced to leave it. Though it'd been tiring enough in and of itself, her journey with Mika had actually been the longest period she'd gone through since then without a real job to speak of. Having work to do actually made her feel more like herself, she realized. And besides, she had a feeling they could've gotten off a lot worse in a small fishing village such as this.
"We'll start as soon as the old one gets removed." She decided, before suddenly looking over at Mika to be sure she agreed. She had to remember that she wasn't working alone, this time.

"Alright" Mika said then turning to the owner of the inn. "We'll be up in our room. Call us down when you're ready for us. Thank you, miss..."
"Mrs.Olkanie" Mrs. Olkanie said, intrudicing herself.
"Thank you Mrs. Olkanie. I'm Mika and this is Kiri. See you in a few" Mika said, walking back up to their room and grabbing her backpack and pulled out two apples. Taking a bite of one, she passed the other one to Kiri.

Kiri happily took the apple, biting into it eagerly as she ignored the sweet but sticky juices running down her chin.
She plopped back down on her bed as they reached the room, still working on the apple. She figured she could use as much rest as she could get before they started having to work.
She wasn't sure how much time passed, but sooner than she expected she could hear the voice of the innkeeper calling up to them. "Girls, everything's ready for you if you want to get started!" Mrs. Olkanie prompted.
"That was fast..." Kiri commented as she sat back up, tossing the finished apple core into the trash can between the two beds. "She must actually be pretty eager to get this place fixed up." She smiled. "Come on, let's go get started!"

"Alright" Mika said, jumping down from the top bunk, landing on the ground with a thunk. The two went down stairs and saw the floor compleatly stripped down. There was only dark, weird wood on the ground now. Her eyes darting everywhere, Mika noticed that the front door was locked. Probably from keeping anyone from coming in while she and Kiri worked.
The new carpet was in the corner of the room. It looked alot better than the old one, but she knew it wasn't new.
"Well..."Mika began "Lets begin" She walked over to the carpet and rolled it out.
"Uhh...last time I did this you have to cut the carpet into medium sized squares then staple or glue then to the ground..." she said trying to remember each step of this process. She had to do this one time on the boat when they decided to carpet the bed rooms.

"Okay...so we have to place it down in pieces like a puzzle?" Kiri pondered, suddenly finding herself at a bit of a loss. Out of all the jobs she'd done, this was something new. At least Mika seemed to know somewhat what she was doing.
"There are supplies in the closet behind the desk." Mrs. Olkanie commented, gesturing to the door close to where she stood. "I think I'm going to go out for a bit to give you space to work, since I have to close the inn in the meantime. I won't be far though, so holler if you need me."
Kiri nodded. "I'll go look for scissors and a stapler or glue!" She told Mika, heading over to the closet as the innkeeper left.
The small room smelled even mustier inside than the rest of the old building, but it was surprisingly organized, making it easy to find what she was looking for. She came out a few minutes later, and returned to Mika with a big, sharp pair of scissors, and both a stapler and a bottle of glue. "Okay! I found the stuff!" She chimed.

"Alright, then" Mika took the scissors and the carpet and cut a perfect square out of it. Flipping it over to it's back side, she took the glue and put an 'x' of glue on it's back.
"ok, take this, Kiri, and put it in the corner and then staple it down, alright?" she said as she handed it to Kiri. Once Kiri took it, Mika began to do the same thing on even more squares or the cut out carpet.

Kiri looked over at the corner Mika's eyes had traveled to as she'd passed her the small carpet square. "Okay!" She chimed, heading over there.
She was careful to put it down straight the first time, so as not to necessarily smear the glue underneath it. To her dismay, it ended up still being not quite aligned with the wall as she placed it, making her quickly try to move it up slightly. She had to admit that she never had been good at things like this, but it seemed okay afterwards - no harm done. She struggled more with the stapler, again trying to make sure it was straight before she forced the staples out. One staple in the left corner seemed a bit off, but it was good enough...the carpet piece wouldn't be slipping anywhere.
She got back up from her crouched position, before hurrying back over to Mika, who was still cutting away. Her precision with the scissors impressed her - had she learned these skills while living on the boat?

Mika finished off the last of the cutting of the carpet when she decided to help out Kiri with the placing of the carpet squares. She glued, placed and stapled for a while before it was done. She looked up at the clock. They had been working for two and a half hours now. "That should be..." she said, counting with her fingers and she tryed to figure out how much they earned. "Seven gillah and fifty pillah!" Mika cheered. [ ]
