Kiri smiled. It wasn't a huge some of money, but at least it was something - they could survive off of sums like that until the boat arrived.
She felt slightly sweaty from going back and forth between Mika and the places where the carpet squares had needed to be placed, but overall the job hadn't been that long or hard.
As if on cue, the door suddenly creaked open and the innkeeper peeked in. "How are you girl's doing?" The woman asked, before noticing that the room was already carpeted. "Oh, done already?" She stepped inside carefully, looking over the carpet. "Very nice, girl's!" She smiled, reaching into her purse and pulling out the seven gillah as well as the fifty pillah.
"Thanks!" Kiri beamed as she handed her half of it. "Do you have anything else for us to do now?" She asked.

"Um..." the woman woundered. "Not at the moment, but I'm sure I'll figure somthing out over night." she said. She then looked as if she had forgotten somthing and ran into her room.
"Wel..." Mika began "I guess we could get some dinner for tonight, or somthing" she told Kiri. The money they earned could buy a small dinner, but that was good enough.
"Unless you want to go somthing" she offered.

Kiri just smiled, before placing a hand on her aching stomach. "Let's just go get dinner - I'm starving! All that work made me hungry!"
Already walking towards the door in her eagerness to get food, she took a peak outside. Only a sliver of daylight remained, signaling that day had turned to evening. The warm, fire-lit streetlights lining the port town looked pretty in the dim light, she thought, making her smile grow wider as she took in another deep filled with the smell of the sea. She liked this town. Maybe waiting here for a while could be fun!
There was a noisy, but inviting hustle and bustle in the streets as the villagers went about their evening buisness. She glanced around, noticing all the vendors selling food and the buildings that looked like cafes. It looked like they had a lot to choose from. "Hmm...what kind of food are you in the mood for?" She asked.

Mika thought on the question with a long "Hm...." as she tried to think what she'd like to eat. They didn't have much money to eat nicely as they had before, nor for a large quantiy of food. Before, they had apples as a snack-lunch, but that itself was very filling.
"Well" she began with a big grin. "Right now, Im in the mood for bread and jam." Bread and jam had always been one of her confort foods that she could fill up easily on and was very cheap since it was only three gillah and jam was about one to two gillah.
"Does that sound good to you, because bread and jam doesn't sound much of a dinner" she laughed.

Kiri blinked for a moment. Bread and jam? It was true that the idea didn't sound like much of a dinner... She admittedly wasn't quite sure if it would fill her aching stomach, but it was also true that they didn't have the money to spend on anything big or extravagant.
"Well..." She started slowly. "Why don't we go to a bakery? They probably would have bread and jam, and maybe they would also have other things made with bread like sandwiches. I'd like a sandwich." She smiled. Bread and jam was fine, but she didn't have a sweet tooth for once. She wanted a sandwich with sliced meat and lots of cheese, she decided - just like the ones she used to get for lunch all the time back at the church.
Glancing around, she found a building that appeared to be both a bakery and a cafe, with people sitting in chairs both inside and around it. "Let's check that place out!" She suggested, already starting to head closer.

"Alright" Mika said as she followed Kiri to a shop that held, not only a bakery, but a cafe. Hm, looks alot like the one in Kilter, she thought to herself in suprise as they neared it. Even though the outside looked like the one in Kilter, didn't mean that the inside was. in truth, the inside was alot nicer than the one in Kilter. It was nicely painted and the floor boards looked in place and not worn out.
The line was realivitly long, but not too long. Mika quickly took her place in line before it could get any longer.

Kiri took her place in line next to Mika as they waited, smiling as she glanced around. It was a lot like the cafe they'd been to, back when she'd first met Mika in Kilter, but the nicer condition of this building only spoke of how much wealthier this port town overall had to be. Still, being there filled her with a warm, nostalgic feeling all the same.
The line was a bit slow, but it wasn't all that long before she noticed that they were just about up to the ordering counter, making her move her eyes back ahead of her. She looked over the menu as the last couple people in front of them left. It looked like they could simply order a slice or two of bread for five gillah, and then pick the toppings that they wanted to be put on it. There were a lot of choices listed on the menu - jam, honey, butter, and all different sorts of meats, sauces, and cheeses.
She licked her lips eagerly as she stepped up to order. "I'll have bread with butter, mustard, ham, and orange cheese." She explained to the woman working behind the counter, before looking over at Mika and waiting for her to order.

"And I'll take some bread with jelly" Mika finished. The woman told her the amount to be payed and Mika payed the five gillah, which suprised her. She thought it was going to cost alot more than they had earned today, but maybe it was the fact that bread and jam along with a sandwich didn't cost that much.
Down the line was where you picked up your order and the two girls did, eventually, after waiting for their order. Taking it over to a near by tabel, Mika sat down and began to eat her light dinner.
"So, you excited for the trip?" Mika asked Kiri after taking a bit of her food.

Kiri nodded. "Having seen the ocean here, I can't wait to get out on it." She smiled, before stuffing a big bite of her sandwich in her mouth.
It tasted simple but delicious, with the savory flavors of the meat and cheese and the tang of the mustard mixing in her mouth. It did indeed taste just like the sandwiches she'd been served for lunch so many times back at the church. A slight tinge of homesickness crept back in to compete with her excitement about the trip, but, all the same, she didn't regret leaving - she had so much to look forward to, and had already had a great time on their journey.
"I really like this town, too..." She commented further, as she took a second bite. "It smells kinda fishy, and the kid that tripped you was mean, but this place has a feeling that's both cozy and free at the same time... I've never stayed at a town by the sea before..."

"Really?" Mika asked, sort of suprised. Then again, she had lived her whole life on a boat, and only on land when selling goods and such. It wasn't until a half a year ago that she had first set foot on land for the longest peiod of time.
"Well it's nice at first, but then you get used to it. And..." she began, but trailed off. She wanted to let Kiri in on that one of her boatmates was a +Anima, so she wouldn't be suprised about it.
"What do you think of +Anima?" she whispered to Kiri so that no one else would hear her.

Kiri's whole body immediately tensed, a few juices squeezing out of her sandwich as the fingers that she had on it suddenly clenched it tighter.
...What do I...think of +anima...?
Why was her companion asking her such a question? Why did she want to know? Kiri could feel her hands and feet start to sweat. What if...what if Mika was asking her because she didn't like +anima?
But I...I am one!
She suddenly started to feel a sense of panic creeping up on her. What if the friend she'd been so lucky to make hated +anima? What if she would abandon her if she found out? She felt a slight shiver on her lower back, where a strange, dark marking was hidden by her clothes. She instinctively pulled the cloth down farther, feeling as if it was suddenly visible, even though she knew that it wasn't.
"I...I..." She sputtered. "I...I don't think they're any different from normal people!" She answered, simply responding to the question without revealing that she was one, just in case her companion didn't like her answer. "Why do you...ask?" She pressed, trying to keep her anxiousness from showing.

"Because...um..." Mika didn't really know how to put this. "Oh, because Tobi and I are ones" No way, Mika! You can't say that! What if Kiri had some grudge (sp?) against +Animas. I'd lose my friend, and she'd lose her only chance to ride the waves. I couldn't do that! she thought to herself in worry.
"Um...because..." she said, almost going with what she had thought out, but caught what she was saying in the nick of time. "I think they're just like normal people too, and I wanted to know what you thought about them!" she recovered, with an inward sigh of relife.

"Oh..." Kiri sighed in relief. "...Thank goodness!" She flinched inwardly as the relieved words slipped from her mouth, realizing how that sounded. "Er...er..." She stammered, trying to think of something else to say to draw attention away from what'd she'd just let slip out.
In the end, though, any words she thought of caught in her throat. By trying to keep the truth from her, she was starting to feel dishonest. It still struck her as funny that Mika would even want to know what she thought about them to begin with - did she already have some friends that were +anima, perhaps? After all, she'd just said that she didn't mind them, so...
Kiri's gaze fell away from Mika's, her eyes resting down on her sweaty hands on the table. "What would you think..." She started slowly, whispering. She'd never felt so nervous about revealing herself as a +anima before - normally, she didn't care what people thought, but she was terrified of losing her friend. "If I told you that I was a +anima...?" She finished hesitantly, biting her bottom lip.

"Oh...um..." Mika didn't really know how to say what she wanted. Before -before she left the boat- she would have just came out with the fact that she was too, but after being in Asteria for a while now, she learned that it was not normal to do so. She began to play with the hem of her shirt as she thought of what to say.
"That'd be good because..." she began softly, still looking for the words inside her head of what to say. "I am too. And well, Tobi -I told you about him, right?- is also" she finished, also giving a warning about the fact that Tobi was too, so it wouldn't come as a suprise for Kiri later on.

Kiri blinked, suddenly lifting her gaze back up. "You're...a +anima too?" She repeated in wonder, though making sure to keep her voice quiet.
So, that was it. That was why Mika had asked - she'd been nervous, too. She could hardly believe it. She'd never really met another +anima before. How unlikely was it that both of them could have turned out to be one? And apparently there was another on the boat, too.
Feeling both stunned and a bit excited, a smile spread across her face. "What a strange coincidence that is!" She remarked, giving a slight laugh.
