Mika walked with Kiri through the market. Maybe today they'd get a better job! Or at least she hoped that. She dragged her feet playfully on the ground as she walked through the market with hopeful, sparkeling eyes and a slight bounce to her step. Slowly, she could see the blueness of the water come to view as they progressed towards the dock.
At the docks, Mika enjoyed the feel of wood underneath her feet, instead of the eartly feel of dirt or wavy grass. She walked off onto the docks, looking around to see if she could spot her old boat. And...there is was. It came as a shocker to Mika. There! There it was!
"Kiri! Kiri!" Mika said loudly. "It's here!" she yelled. "It's right ther-" she said, getting cut off after being tackled by someone. Landing face first on the wooden ground, she tried to look up to see who it was that attacked her, but she didn't need to. The person began to speak and she already knew who it was!
"Hey Mika!" a gental, happy voice said. "Long time no see!" the male voice said. Then, his attention was caught by the gray-haired girl. He got off of Mika and walked towards the girl.
"Hey!" he said extending out his hand. "I'm Tobi, and you would be?" he asked. Tobi stood tall and had messy dirty blond hair. He looked about seventeen of eightteen, wearing a slightly tattered shirt and demin pants.

"U...umm..." Kiri sputtered, taken aback for a moment. The boat was really here already? She was excited, but also felt a brief rush of nervousness. She would finally get to meet everyone that Mika had talked so much about. Would they like her? Would they mind her coming on the boat? Well... She suddenly caught herself, quickly pushing her thoughts away - sitting there and zoning out wouldn't help. Her distant look faded and a big smile spread across her face.
"I'm Kiri!" She announced to the older boy, taking the handshake. "I'm a friend of Mika's!" So this was Tobi...the one Mika had mentioned so much, and who was also a +anima...

"Well, nice to meet'cha Kirry" Tobi said, looking over at Mika. She had popped up suprisingly fast. He wasn't expecting her to be up for another minute or two. But he smiled as watched as Mika shuffled over towards him and Kiri.
"Nice to see ya" he said with a thumbs up. Mika stared at him for a second with an expression that said "Why the hell did you do that", which made Tobi laugh. Then smiled at Kiri.
"Come on, let's get you on board" she said, taking Kiri's hand and leading her up onto the boat.

Kiri followed Mika off the dock and up into the boat. She could feel the surface rock gently beneath her feet, giving her a slight sway as she stepped entirely onto the ship. It felt strange at first - she wasn't used to it, and it took her a moment to catch her balance. And this was just on the shore - what would it be like on the open ocean?
She gave a giggle as she started to adjust, though, glancing to the far side of the boat where the ocean outstretched. She looked over the side, staring at the waves. "It's so neat up here!" She chimed with a glance to Mika, before looking around to see who else was on the boat.

"Yup~" said Mika, who was practially dancing with each step she took. The boat had came here so fast! She hadn't actually planned them to come so fast! She had just blown the whistle yesterday. But anyways, she was glad they had came as fast as they had. She couldn't wait for the depature. She had began to miss the feeling of riding out on the waves and the smell of salt water.
After talking to her old friends, she showed Kiri around the boat. She showed her the bathrooms, the kitchen and pantry, and where she would be sleeping. Of course, there was only one room for beds- since the boat was for guys only (until Mika came around)- but no one seemed to mind it, not even the only girl there.
"So how do you like it so far?" she asked Kiri after done showing her around the boat.

"I like it!" She chimed, still glancing about as she talked. "It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be!" Even with only one bedroom, the boat was still a lot more spacious than she'd imagined. It really was like a house on top of the water.
It seemed comfortable, too. She didn't think she'd have any trouble staying on here for a while. The single bedroom might be a little strange at first - with the exception of when she'd lived with her father on the farm, she'd never had a room completely to herself. In the orphanage, she'd shared on with all of the girls, but sharing one with so many people of the opposite gender would be new. Maybe it wouldn't feel so awkward after she got to know everyone, though, they all seemed nice so far.
"Do you know when we're departing?" She asked Mika, getting anxious now.

"Nope" Mika said, suprisingly, smiling. "I can ask, but we still have to get our stuff from the hotel room" she said. They had left their stuff back at the room since there was no need to carry around packs when you're looking for a job, really. But as Mika tried to leave the boat, Tobi stood in her way, blocking her and Kiri's path. He stood tall with a smile on his face.
"Where are you two going?" asked Tobi, his hands in his pant pockets as he looked down at the two girls.
"What'cha need to know for?" she said, sticking her tounge out at him. She quickly darted past him, pulling Kiri behind her. As she dragged Kiri away from the port, she could hear something from Tobi about coming back in two hours. Nonresponding, Mika just kept running.

Kiri padded after Mika quickly, struggling to keep up. That was right, though, they did need to get their stuff. She'd been so surprised about the boat's arrival that she'd nearly forgotten. If Mika hadn't mentioned it, she probably would've accidently left her bags all together.
Had that boy said something about two hours? She hadn't quite been able to tell for sure, but two hours was a long time, easily enough to tell the innkeeper that they were leaving and grab their stuff before heading back.
They arrived at the inn quickly at the pace they were traveling. Kiri did a last check of the room after they got there, making sure she had everything - she had no idea when or if they would be back to this town. "We should probably checkout with the innkeeper, and then head back." She commented, as she stuffed the last of her extra clothes back into her main bag.

"Awe, where's the fun in that?" Mika asked her little friend. "We have two hours and a bit of money left. We might as well buy ourselves something nice before we leave" she suggested after packing the last of her stuff and slinging the pack over her shoulders. The two walked down stairs and returned the key, but the suprising thing was, the lady told them to wait.
"Here" the innkeeper lady said. She handed Mika a envolpe. In her hands, it felt heavy. Taking a peak into the envolpe she saw money. It looked like the remaing money from what Mika had payed for and wasn't going to use. "It's yours" she said. Mika thanked her and left the inn.
"Now we have some more money" she said. "Anything you want?" she asked Kiri, already thinking of what she might buy herself.

"Hmm..." Kiri pondered for a moment, lost in thought. She wasn't used to spending money like this - normally she held on to it tightly and only used it for essentials. Trying to think of something she wanted solely for pleasure almost felt strange. She supposed this was the last time they'd see stores at all for a while, though, as there wouldn't be any of the ship. Maybe it wouldn't hurt this once.
"Well..." She started slowly. "I guess I could use some better clothes... I've never had enough money to really buy my own, so the outfits I have now are all the old musty ones the orphanage in Kilter gave me..." She absently looked down at the dress she was wearing now. She didn't dislike it, but it was a bit old...

"Alright" Mika said as she walked down, heading towards the bazzar. Hopefully, there, they might have a clothes shop and not just a fabric store. A good will might be a nice place to start too. "Clothes it is then" she said, thinking what she could get for herself. She liked her clothes that she had gotten when she had first arrived in Asteria, so she didn't need any new ones and some of her older clothes were still on the ship. Maybe a game or something to pass the time with could help.
Coming across a good will, the two girls entered it. "Go on" she urged Kiri. "Pick yourself out something nice."

"Okay!" Kiri smiled at the thought, entering the small store. It was a bit cramped inside, and the wooden floor creaked as she stepped over it, but there was a wide variety of clothes hanging from the racks lining the walls.
Thinking about what she wanted, she went over to the section where dresses were kept. There were so many - a forest green one with an etched flower design, a golden yellow one without sleeves, a long black one... She stopped flipping through them and pulled one off the hanger to look at it as it caught her eye. It was a light blue dress that had a pink bow around the middle similar to one she was wearing now, only slightly paler. It had white lace around the collar, mid-length sleeves, and bottom of the fanned out skirt, as well as small pink ribbons that looked a bit like the ones in her hair sowed on around the skirt.
"Oh, I like this one!" She decided. It was a lot dresser than anything she was used to wearing, but somehow she thought that it seemed to suit her. She walked over to the store counter and paid the clerk, putting her new dress in a bag before heading back over to Mika, grinning. "What do you want to get now?"

Mika had been looking at a few fishing poles while Kiri looked at the dresses. The fishing poles looked nice, but the wire tangled them up. She grabbed about three and a roll of fishing wire. It would be a nice project to start on when on the boat. Hearing Kiri, Mika popped up and out of her own thoughts.
"I'm getting these" she said, holding the items in her hands. Paying for the few items (a cost of seventeen gillah) she leading she and Kiri back to the docks.
"I know it may sound weird to buy these tangled fishing poles, but did you know that I'm usually the one doing all the repairs on the ship? I'm a bit of a busy body, but I like to work with my hands...alot" she said, blabbling on and on about what she used to do on the ship.

So that was what she did on the ship. She kept herself busy doing the repairs. "Hmm... I'm not that good at that sort of thing." Kiri commented thoughtfully. "Can you teach me a bit while we're on the ship?" That way maybe she could keep busy too if Mika agreed, and such skills might be handy to have.
The ship was still there waiting as it came back into view. She turned back to Mika as they neared the port. "So...we're leaving now?" She asked, wondering if they were actually going to be off now. If they were, she figured that this would be the last time that her feet would be on solid ground for a while. She was excited, but the thought also made her a bit nervous.

"Sure I'd love to" Mika said. Passing down skills and secerts to getting the job done, and done fast could be fun.
"I guess, unless you need something." She looked up at the sky. How long had that taken them? Half hour? Full hour? The actual chores hadn't take that long, but getting back had. Climbing aboard the boat, she went downstairs and dropped off the items before returning to the deck. Tobi sat on the railing, looking bored. A smile crept onto Mika's lips as she quietly snuck towards him. And then she...pushed him. Suprised, he grabbed Mika's arm and dragged her down with him as he fell (the deck isn't that far from the water).
"Come on, you lovebirds, we're about to set sail" one of the other boat mates said as he tossed down a rope. Of course, Mika went up first (not used to swimming in water) and then Tobi. Mika looked down at herself, compleatly wet. She might as well go change. She did have some spare clothes downstairs.
"Hey Kiri" she said to the small girl. "I'm going to go downstairs for a bit. Do you want to come with, or stay up here?" she asked, not sure if the girl would feel confrontable around all (OLDER) guys.
